Using “solidify selection” script to make nice edges.

Here’s a quick method to make nice edges even on compound curve meshes. The script is under the OBJECT/SCRIPTS menu when in edit mode.

Notice that I have unchecked the option to “skin sides” you do not want to do this as it will create faces on BOTH sides of the “solidification” The back faces will create artifacts where they are connected to the mesh surface.

If you get wierd overlaps after running the script, undo and check to make sure your normals are all pointing correctly out. Once normals are fixed the script should work fine.

Here I use this technique to cut the seam in a cars hood.
